The WASH Gender Project implemented by a consortium of seven organisation led by University of Uyo examines environmental and socio-cultural factors of gender-based differences in access to water, sanitation and hygiene in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The WASH Gender is a partnership project of IHE Delft Institute for Water Education under the Water and Development Partnership Programme (2021-2027) funded by the Dutch Government.
As one of the consortium members, Devimpath supports learning and gender sensitivity checks to ensure the involvement of women in the project process. An integral part of the project is the establishment of WASH clubs in Schools with the aim of effecting behavioral change in school children and teachers towards maintaining high sanitation and hygiene practices, reducing open defecation and improving sanitation standards in schools. We also facilitate national workshops to communicate findings of the project to the public and engage policy makers and political representatives for policy changes.
