Devimpath’s proposal to empower rural women smallholder farmers in Ezinihitte LGA, Imo State with skills for a climate-resilient future submitted to Women Environmental Programme (WEP) received positive feedback and awarded a Seed Grant for implementation.

The project will support 40 young women smallholder farmers in Eziala-Amumara and Adakam-Amumara Autonomous communities in Ezinihitte local government area of Imo state to understand climate change and climate change adaptation techniques they can adopt to make their farms more climate-resilient and profitable. The women will also be trained to grow hybrid variety of vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers and cabbage) organically, using simple climate-resilient techniques. The practical session will take place in a model farm with the nurseries of the vegetables planted in real time and nurtured to harvest. The project will begin in September 2024.

This project is part of the “Strengthening feminist organizations to advocate for climate policies and advance sustainable initiatives” of the Global Climate Ecofeminist Movement Building Fund, launched by Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) and implemented by WEP.
